- Although the core of our program will remain children 11-14 yrs. old , we also accommodate high school age athletes 15-19 years during indoor, outdoor, and summer track season. Our track season is broken down into Fall Training, Indoor, Spring and a Summer season with specific goals/requirements for each.
The Fall Training is a time for athletes to get acclimated back to the sport if they are returners and for new athletes to learn the basics of track and field. During this time athletes will train not only on the track, but in a weight room as well at Harper's Performance Training. This runs from September until November.
Indoor Season is the first chance to put the hard work from fall training to use in live track meets. The EYT Spartans program typically run in PG County, for local meets, and travel for the more competitive invitationals. This season goes from November to mid March.
The Spring season is our developmental season and will run tentatively from April – mid May weather permitting). Practices will be during week nights and the first few Saturday mornings until the first meet, typically at the end of April. There will be approximately 4/5 competition meets during the Spring season. The Summer season will run from approximately the end of May – August 1,2021 and will include competitions necessary to qualify for USATF and AAU Nationals. There are typically 4-5 qualifying meets during the month of June. Nationals is typically the last week in July and runs for the entire week. Between the end of National qualifiers in June, and the start of Jr Nationals, the athletes typical compete in “refinement” meets in the month of July. . Spring season registration is required for all 11-14yrs old, however the Summer season will require some planning and commitment from the athlete and parents, DO NOT plan vacations between the months of June – August if signing up for the Summer session. The summer season is for those children with the desire and drive to try and qualify for one of the Junior Olympic Youth Championships either AAU or USATF. In addition, parents need to be committed to taking their children to Jr Olympics, if they qualify. The children who register for this season will have track practice Monday thru Friday each week and will be expected to participate in the championship meets. This season is not restricted to those with the best ability, but to anyone who demonstrates drive and commitment to advance to Nationals.
Children must participate in the spring season in order to register for the summer session, except 15-19yr old's who run for their high school teams.
The monthly fee for all athletes is $200.00 per child per month. There are additional fees for uniforms and Warm Ups if needed/desired. Returners fee is reduced if they do not require new uniforms. Spring Registration will open on April 1 – and close on April 10, or earlier if we reach our limit of athletes. For the Summer Only athletes registration will close on June 1, 2022.
