The EYT Spartans football program is off to a hot start as projected and as they have been the past 2 years of existence. Week 3 really showed what teams were made of and at the end of the day. All 3 teams in action left with a victory.
6U was off and had a bye but will be in action this Saturday 10/1/2016
8U-The 8u Spartans put on a clinic. Streaking up and down the sideline with what seemed like every possession the 8u Spartans were able to shut out the MPG Panthers with a final score of 27-0.
10U-This game came down the wire. With the game locked up at 0-0 when the regulation clock struck 0, that meant we were heading into overtime. The EYT Spartans started overtime on offense first with 4 downs to prove themselves. On a botched play, starting QB Ramone Valentine IV was able to make something out of nothing on a busted play and take it to the house for the touchdown. On defense in overtime the Spartans showed resilience and held the Panthers off. For a final score of 7-0.
12U-The game of the day. This game was a back and forth slobber knocker, but the Spartans tenacity, speed, and skillset was just too much for the MPG Panthers. The one trick pony Panthers were stopped on several crucial plays which was huge for the Spartans #32 Daniel Harper, Jr, seemed to be too much and too fast for MPG as he saw his way to the end zone 3 times with each carry being over 60 yards.. Sammy Williams #23, ensured he was made known with 2 big catches from #2 Dwayne Smith for the go ahead extra points. I the end the Spartans won 20-13.
With the momentum in the EYT Spartans favor the season is getting interesting. This week the Spartans take their show on the road against the Maryland Youth Terps, where the Spartans are heavily favored to sweep the day.
